At the end of last year I set a goal to do 1 blog post a week for an entire year for 52 posts. This is the last post of the year and it is number 46. While I didn’t meet the goal, I still managed to accomplish the underlying goal, which was to “express myself a little more, to engage in more action, to offer more value and to be more present.” There are a few things that I would have liked to include in the blog that I might blog about later like getting my 2nd degree black belt, meeting with an amazing business woman who helped me see how to incorporate my passions into my business, and going through a reflective exercise where I looked at journal entries from the last 6 years. If I don’t, you might just have to ask me about them…
On July 9th, 2007 I made an entry in my personal journal called “The Illusion Keeps Fading.” An excerpt from that entry stood out to me when I re-read it the other day: “Sometimes I need to remind myself that there is a separation between other peoples reality and reality; my interpretation of reality will also be different than reality as well.”
A few days ago I came across one of the “Paul McCartney died in ’66 and was replaced with a look-a-like, sound-a-like and act-a-like person all rolled into one.” There were pictures comparing the minute differences from before and after the supposed replacement as well as voice samples and video clips. Apparently this is a tremendously huge deal to some people and there are multiple sites trying to prove that this happened and multiple more sites trying to prove that it did not happen. I’m intrigued by how creative people are.
I have a Microsoft TechNet subscription that gives me access to software before it’s released at stores. This summer I downloaded Windows 7 and installed it on my Netbook. After using it for a couple months, I decided that it was more than stable enough to use on both my work desktop and work laptop. This post outlines the experience of doing a clean install like I did on my desktop and an upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 like I did on my laptop, and what I would have done differently.
On October 1st of 2009, a Clear representative came to my door offering high speed wireless Internet service. He said that the connection is faster and more stable than Comcast and that I could try it for seven days so I decided to give it a try and compare it to my Comcast connection. I listened to all of the offers and signed up for their “Pick 2 Unlimited” package which includes a wireless modem for my home computer and a mobile Internet USB modem for my laptop.
I watched another Tony Robbins video, this time the video is from a TED conference. This was an entertaining and empowering video. It’s about 20 minutes long and below is what I took away from the talk.
When some major event occurs, three questions come up:
“What am I going to focus on?”
“What does it mean?”
“What am I going to do about it?”
You get to choose how you answer each of those questions and those decisions shape your future.
That’s it. Simple but powerful. Watch it for yourself at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cpc-t-Uwv1I&feature=channel
According to the Blog Action Day ’09 page,” agriculture around the world is responsible for nearly as much total greenhouse gas emissions as all forms of transportation put together…” The implication then being, how much and what we consume impacts the climate as much as how much and what we drive. Holy shitake mushrooms.
Maybe I’ve been thinking too much about Martials Arts, but in this youtube video, it looks as if Allen Iverson is not only besting his opponents mentally and physically, but energetically as well. Take a look and see what you think:

I wonder if this is evidence that redirecting energy can be applied outside of Tai Chi and Aikido. Where else could this phenomenon show up?
This talk about motivation was actually motivating. It would be amazing to pursue deep desires; to pursue what really matters; to live life in such a way that finances don’t matter very much. And it would be great to do it full time. Here is my takeaway on the video:
Business isn’t up to speed on the science of motivation
Getting business to match up with science will strengthen our businesses, solve a lot of problems and change the world. Here is the video (about 20 min):
